Two-time Ironman World champion triathlete Tim DeBoom has announced he plans to run the Leadville 100 trail race on August 16 and 17.
The 30-hour event, which forces runners to climb and descend a total of 15,600 feet on a 50-mile out-and-back course, will be DeBoom’s first attempt at an ultramarathon — or any foot race longer than 26.2 miles for that matter.
“Competing in triathlons is still my passion, and winning another Hawaii Ironman is a top goal of mine,” DeBoom said in a release. “But I’ve conquered it twice before and am excited to try something that I’m not 100 percent sure I can even finish.”
