Calif. — An endurance runner was found safe by searchers early Monday after he spent a chilly night in the Sierra foothills.
Orangevale resident Daniel Rose, who is in his 40s, was running with others training for the Western States Endurance Run when he got separated from the group on Sunday afternoon.
Rescuers worked overnight to find Rose. Temperatures in the area hovered in the low 30s before sunrise on Monday.
On Sunday afternoon, the group of runners searched for Rose by themselves after he failed to show up at an assigned meeting spot. They called the sheriff’s office at about 2:30 p.m. after looking for an hour, deputies said.
